Announcing HORT 3.0
We are thrilled to announce that the third iteration of our Home Ownership Reparative Transfer program will be launching in late summer or early fall. Our HORT program both addresses America’s racial wealth gap and generates a sense of stability, place and belonging for recipients. HORT provides one-time $25,000 Reparative Transfers and homebuyer mentorship to Black descendants of enslaved people in the U.S. purchasing a primary residence in Metro Detroit. Restorative Genealogy Consultations are provided to applicants as an act of restitution, restoring access to family history, and to confirm descendancy for program eligibility. Currently we have funds to provide five reparative transfers. Our goal is to raise another $125,000 for HORT 3.0 by Aug. 31. Your Reparative transfer, large or small, can help us get there. We ask you to reflect on your family’s history and envision the future you want to see. Make a Reparative Transfer today to help us reach that goal.
GKCCF Grant
We are excited to announce that we have received an unrestricted grant in the amount of $100,000 from the Donor-Advised fund at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. We are so grateful for this grant award. These funds will help us continue our work to build models of repair that can be replicated and scaled at a national level.
