RepGen has completed our first round of interviews with the our HORT 2.0 recipients to evaluate the initial impact of receiving a Reparative Transfer. Each received $25,000 towards a home purchase or paying down principal on their mortgages. Executive Director Christian Harris sat in on these interviews for the first time and was deeply impacted.
“Because our programs are intentionally designed to respect our participants’ time—instead of requiring them to jump through hoops to access the funds they are rightfully owed—I hadn’t spent much direct time with our HORT recipients since starting my role last July. Sitting down for interviews was a powerful reminder of the deep impact we’re making, the positive ripple effects we’ve made in people’s lives and in the broader reparations movement. It reignited my drive to champion our work, share our impact more boldly, and keep pushing for thoughtful improvements.”
