Joint Announcement of Strategic Partnership Between RepGen & RFL

Driving Reparative Justice Forward

RepGen and RFL Partner to Advance Homeownership & Community Wealth Building

Purpose & Vision

Reparation Generation (RepGen) and Reparations Finance Lab (RFL) and are thrilled to announce a strategic partnership aimed at advancing reparative justice through innovative and data-driven community-focused initiatives. This collaboration will enhance the evaluation frameworks of RepGen’s Home Ownership Reparative Transfer (HORT) Program by leveraging RFL’s expertise in evidence-based, data-oriented reparative modeling. Together, we aim to generate actionable insights that will optimize the impact of HORT 2.0 and lay the groundwork for the future expansion of HORT 3.0, furthering our shared goal of closing the racial wealth gap and promoting economic equity for the descendants of the trade and trafficking of enslaved Africans in the United States of America.

Key Goals and Strategic Deliverables

Enhancing Evaluation Frameworks: RFL will assess and refine the existing HORT evaluation designs (inclusive of Compass & North Star participants) to ensure they align with best practices in social science and reparative justice principles.

Developing a Data-Driven Community Analysis: RFL and its Chief Data Scientist David Scatterday will create a Metro Detroit Community Data Overlay using its Racial Repair Framework. This will provide detailed, evidence-based recommendations to guide program improvements and optimize outcomes for the HORT Program.

Scaling for Broader Impact: The collaboration will generate strategic insights to inform the scaling of the HORT Program. This includes expanding its reach and impact in Metro Detroit and potentially other regions while actively engaging with key stakeholders through conferences, house meetings, and comprehensive reporting.

What This Partnership Means

This partnership represents a pivotal step in our collective mission to advance reparative justice. By combining RFL’s cutting-edge reparative models, with RepGen’s mission to become the generation that achieves federal reparations, we are creating a powerful platform for driving systemic change. Our joint efforts will demonstrate reparative models that increase Black homeownership, reduce the racial wealth gap, and build sustainable community wealth in Metro Detroit and beyond. (RepGen raises funds from individuals, corporations, and foundations as acts of repair for slavery and its resulting legacy of economic and social oppression).

Quotes from Leadership:

“At RFL, our mission is to craft innovative reparative solutions that directly address the historical and contemporary harms faced by Black Americans. This partnership with RepGen allows us to apply our models to create tangible, lasting change in communities that have been systematically marginalized.”

— Enith Williams, Founder & Executive Director of RFL

“RepGen’s commitment to reparative justice is unwavering, and this collaboration with RFL strengthens our ability to deliver on that promise. Together, we will ensure that the HORT Program not only changes lives today but also provides evidence for the impact reparative acts can have on generational wealth and equity on the Black descendants of Africans who were trafficked and enslaved in America”

— Christian Harris, Executive Director of RepGen
