Grounded in the elements of the United Nations principle of satisfaction, Reparation Generation (RepGen) provides forums that bring together rooms of Americans (virtual and in person) to:
By gathering in small and large rooms, engaging and mobilizing these Reparations supporters and their networks, we increase support for the movement. While CEA activities often focus on activating white people to support Reparations, non-white people are welcome and regularly engage in our CEA activities. Creating effective multiracial spaces that support Reparations provides the National Reparations Movement with examples of collaboration and mutual support. Additionally, CEA activities provide a pathway for people to learn how everyday citizens can support Black Americans right now by making a reparative transfer of wealth and voicing their support for reparative justice.
For more than 400 years, Black People have borne the majority of the emotional and physical labor in the movement for Reparations. While we believe the Reparations movement must remain Black-led, we must increase broad support in order to pass a Federal Reparations Program. RepGen’s CEA Program holds house meetings (in person and virtual) and community presentations and uses newsletters, social media, and more to engage Americans in the ideas of repair, moving supporters from Reparations Curious to Reparations Activated. These CEA activities help folks “Meet RepGen,” exchange personal stories and learn about individual, corporate, and philanthropic support for Reparations in Action. From engagement to activation, RepGen’s CEA Program seeks to steward Americans into the larger Reparations movement.
RepGen intends to expand our capacity to organize more CEA events through increased staffing, community organizing, and developing new tools for organizations and communities to effectively mobilize support for a Federal Reparations Act.
